Do You Bleed Black and Gold?

For those who haven't yet been to visit our Baltimore neighborhood (on the linked map, we are the neighborhood directly north of Cedarcroft at the very top), let me give you a few facts before letting you know why we "bleed black and gold". Baltimore is divided into neighborhoods, most of which are in Baltimore City. Our neighborhood, however, is just outside the city boundary in "the County". Baltimore County is a big, mostly suburban, region with lots of row houses, single family homes, and in some places very large houses. This is an important distinction-- the city vs. county-- even though it might seem trivial to outsiders.

Generally, those who live in the city, are very loyal to Baltimore and put up with the craziness of the city for the energy and history that is there, and they often think twice about venturing out to "the county". Those who live in the county have generally chosen to live there to avoid the craziness of the city, and they often socialize with other county dwellers. All, however, are big Ravens fans, regardless of where they live.
I feel like our little neighborhood is perfectly placed-- literally a block from the city line, we have easy access to other city neighborhoods full of character, good restaurants, and great people-watching, and we also have easy access to the funky college town to the north: Towson.

Now enter our blog title question: Do you bleed black and gold? Several times a week, Brandon and I drive past this painting with various athletes from Towson University sporting the school colors, and this question posed to each passer-by.
Well, we've never been to a Towson U. sporting event, but Brandon does own a college t-shirt, and he did go to the library fairly often when he was studying for the GMAT. So, does that mean we bleed black and gold? Probably not...but, guess what does: Having your "little" brother come to interview for a professor position!!!
So, we wined and dined him and toured him around Bmore, and he did his interview thing. We took him to the funky neighborhood of Hampden (in the city) and ate at this diner restaurant where the menus are made out of old record covers. Somehow, Lish ended up with one fitting for him: Bootsy.
It would be SO great if he and Whit ended up here-- we've already made plans to have a night once a week when we'd go and explore a new restaurant together, get together randomly to play games, and take trips up to NYC together! Lish and I haven't lived by one another since before his mission when we were both at BYU. It would help us get to know each other's spouses more and would be SO FUN!!! We'll keep you posted...

  2. It makes me feel so old that your little brother is interviewing for professor jobs. Where does the time go? I swear he was just a little freshman at BYU.
