The Top Five

Happy 26th Birthday Brandon!!! Is the plan to look like this
svelte JHU statue for the next 26 years?

So in the last few weeks, we have had some fun experiences that have solidified the fact that we are falling in love...with Baltimore. In no particular order, here are our top five:

1. Snow on Monday, flip flops on Friday (the weather has been crazy!). I literally built a snowman last Monday, and then we played in the park and went on a walk the end of the week. This pic shows what is outside our front door right now...flip flops and snow gloves!

2. A birthday meal for Brandon at Famous Dave's with a free dessert courtesy of mom and dad Woodland. You wouldn't think we would want dessert after the meal you see, but how can you pass up free dessert?!?!

3. Our first Lacrosse game...Go Hops (John's Hopkins for the out of towners). We even learned the school cheer, which consists of counting up the number of points JHU has and yelling "we want more" at the end: one, two, three, four, five...we want more! You'd think in a school full of geniuses, they could have come up with something a bit more interesting!

4. A walk in the park...it was such a gorgeous weekend, we played outside on Saturday and made up our own game of baseball-tennis, and then we went on a walk through Robert E. Lee park on Sunday afternoon. I can't wait to see it in the spring and fall!

5. I (Maggie) met a woman from Dublin in the drug store the other day. She asked me where I was from, and once she'd confirmed I was not a local, she made one of my favorite comments about Baltimore of all time: (imagine this being said in an Irish accent) "I didn't think you were form around here, dear. This place...these people...well, they're nothing but peasants! They're all peasants!" Classic.

Just in case the five reasons above sounded sarcastic or facetious, let me assure you that I really am liking B-more. Actually, just this past weekend, I repeated multiple times in my head: I like this place--I really like this place!" It has character...it's a big, little, city...and it's our first home together :)

  1. Love the pictures! I can see why you like that tree. Soo neat. I hope your hubby (Brandon) had a good birthday. Sounds like it was fun. By the way the slideshow is such a good idea. Thanks for sharing!

  2. That last reason about the woman from Dublin was hilarious- I can totally hear it in an Irish accent. How appropriate that I read about this on St. Patty's day :)
