The Last 2 Weekends

It's funny because sometimes our weekends are really low-key...we make pizza and rent a movie on Friday, hang around the house on Saturday and maybe play tennis or go on a run or play baseball, go out to eat Saturday night, and do church stuff on Sunday. And then other weekends are jam-packed, non-stop, whirlwinds of action! Well, okay, they're maybe not that wild, but they do get pretty busy and we can be pretty adventurous.
SO, the last two weekends have been the kind where we have been exploring and visiting friends and enjoying some B-more action. AND, just so you can live a little bit of our lives, I will now share with you some pictures and commentary about our two weekends :) Ready?

Weekend #1, Memorial Weekend: We traveled less than two hours away from B-more and spent some time on the Eastern Shore at a quaint little town called St. Michael's. The whole town is surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay, so there are marinas everywhere and a nice breeze from the water. We brought a picnic lunch and Brandon found the perfect spot to eat...and study the tour map.

Then we rented bikes and road out to a little spot that had a pier and private beach (Claiborne, MD). The bike areas near the Eastern Shore are in the top 25 best in the country...not that we were zooming along or anything since we had beach cruisors with baskets and all!

Then, we joined a bunch of boaters who had traveled to St. Michael's for the holiday weekend at a bar and grill alongside one of the marinas. I ate soft shell crab for the first time and it was a little weird, but still tasty. It was a really fun adventure!

Weekend #2, this weekend: Brandon got an email this week at work offering him the T. Rowe Price tickets for the Orioles game on Friday. There was actually a flash flood watch until Friday evening, but nevertheless I packed up the backpack, took the lightrail downtown, and Brandon and I met up at his office. We grabbed some sandwiches at my all time favorite sandwich place, Potbelly's, and waited out the rain, hoping the game would not be cancelled and that we could take advantage of free baseball tickets. It was pretty cool, actually, because it stopped raining and the game even started right on time. We walked from the Inner Harbor to Camden Yards, and on our way we got to smell the foulness of the harbor (as Brandon said, "It's only pretty from far away!") and see this:
Zoom in on the picture and you'll see all of the white circles which each surround a dead fish! I'm not sure if the foul smell killed the fish or the dead fish created the foul smell, but there were tons of these fish belly-up in the harbor.

Our seats were awesome- fifth row, behind homeplate. And, the game was pretty much sold out because the best player from the minors (Matt Weiters, I know, sad last name) was playing his first major league baseball game. The game was really exciting, besides cheering on Weiters in his Orioles debut, because the Orioles killed Detroit and they hit several homeruns and a grandslam! AND, after the game, there were awesome fireworks. I really love fireworks!

Text ColorI can't close this post without mentioning what we did on Saturday...we spent the whole day down in Chevy Chase/Silver Spring, MD going to the LDS temple and hanging out with one of Brandon's best friend's, Chris Crittenden. Brandon even played his first game of doubles tennis!

We have so much fun together--we love our low-key weekends and these busy ones too!

  1. I love all your postings: the photos and very Maggie musings! Our weekend in Tally was spectacular and left us all wanting more fun together. With both Maggie and Lish on the east COAST, it definitely gives me pause about living out here in the middle of the Utah desert. Thanks so very much for keeping us IN your 'view from the Woodlands' and in touch with all your doing. Love you immeasurably, Moms
