This year was our first July 4th together...last year, Brandon's family was in Belize and mine was visiting me in DC, and the summer before that was bwwt (before we were together). SO, we lived it up over the holiday weekend at the "resort".

We went swimming and sat by the pool reading and getting some sun
We went shopping, ate delicious Lebanese food AND had a BBQ out on a patio, played tennis, had an amazing pancake and egg breakfast where we got to visit with all sorts of old friends, and watched fireworks from a hillside with the Air Force band playing in the background and good friends near by.

Where is this resort, you are wondering? Where did all this fun happen?
Arlington (and Alexandria), VA of course!
Brandon and I joked all Friday and Saturday we were down in VA that we were vacationing at a "resort"...really, we were schlepping around our old stomping grounds and being hosted by some of our friends (Mandy and Trent, in pic above) who recently got married and moved into a super cute place (with a patio!). It was an awesome staycation, filled with relaxation, old memories, friends, and (of course) patriotism.

(We watched the DC fireworks from the Air Force Memorial, as shown above)
Sorry to miss you on the 4th. Looks like you had fun. :) Do us (as in your loyal blog readers) a favor and make your pictures bigger por favor. Gracias!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you guys had a great holiday weekend! Ours was very relaxing. See our blog for details. Now I'm knee deep in school. Two classes at once is killer! Good thing it's only and overlap of three weeks! Love you both!
ReplyDeleteWe missed being with y'all on our favorite family holiday = the FOURTH. Watching the DC fireworks on TV just isn't quite the same as the rainy Capitol Lawn! So glad you enjoyed your vacation at the 'resort' and so grateful for good friends hosting you two too. Love you both tons! Mom & Scott
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such a fun STAYcation! I can't wait to see you during your VAcation here soon! Did you know Genevieve is prego (16 weeks)? Her early baby shower is next week- FUN!
