Get Ready, Get Set, GO!!!

A short blog post this week just to catch you up on our life (as I type we have family visitors-- Brandon's dad and bro are here because Sean just moved to Philly. YEAH! So, I will type quickly so I can continue hanging out with the three Woodland men while they talk baseball (major league and little league) and football (college and pro)...ok, ok, they did talk about important things too. I don't want Brandon to come on here again and "correct" my post!)

I "start school" this week. For the last two weeks I have been at the school setting up my classroom where I'll hold my groups and attending many, many, many meetings. I've read and talked about the students so much that now I am very ready to actually meet these boys. (Just in case you forgot, my new job is at an all boys high school being a counselor/teacher for freshman boys who are diagnosed with ADHD/Learning Disabilities/other Mental Health issues.)

Before signing off, I would like to make an official announcement (drum roll, please)...I am going to run a marathon. Yep, I've signed up, paid the money, started telling people, and I've been training. I ran 16 miles yesterday (from our apartment down to the Inner Harbor and back), the farthest I've ever run. There are two long runs left (the next two Saturdays) when I will need to go farther, and then the long runs start to wind back down until...October 10th, Baltimore Marathon day! (For some pics from last year's bmore marathon, click on the link below)

For any "local" friends and family who have been chomping at the bit for a reason to come up to bmore and hang out with us, well, October 10th would be a good day :) I will for sure need some motivation all along the run.

I will keep you updated on these two fronts: my job and my running. Sorry this post is all about me, but maybe it will inspire Brandon to blog about his goings-on :)

  2. WOW!! I can't even run 1 mile, let alone 16 and eventually 26!! One of my friends at work signed up for a marathon here in AZ. I think it's a trend! I used to walk in the mornings before it got too hot, but now I'm busy at work! I started teaching three weeks ago! My students have already had major tests! I'm so jealous that you get to see my family! You've spent more time with Sean and my parents than I have lately...you're so lucky! Send my love to everyone!

  3. A marathon? You are crazy! But I know you can do it. You probably won't even break a sweat. Wish I could see you run across the finish line like you just went on a morning jog but I have a wedding that day. Good luck!

  4. YEAH! So it's official... you're going to do amazing. That's on Mia's birthday- you can run while we eat cake! :) Hee-hee... But seriously what a cool place to train and race. It will be such a priceless memory for you. I hold to my "I ran a marathon" claim like no other. It comes in handy on my "frumpy mom" days :) Good luck with school starting and training. Love you!
