NYC and The Brown Family

NYC: Business Going On As Usual...
Ever since I have lived on the East Coast (8 years now!), I have tried to make it up to NYC once a year. Living in Bmore should have made it easier to accomplish this "task", but I actually had not been to NYC for two years. The last time I went, Brandon and I stayed with my amazing Great Aunt May in her Upper Eastside apartment and we met up with the Woodlands (Carl, Debbie, and Sean) for some fun in the Central Park and Times Square.
This time, I ventured up solo. Brandon headed out of town for a business trip and I hopped on a bus to visit my "old" roommate and friend, Ginny. She and her husband, Sam, have lived in NYC for two years and it just felt wrong that I hadn't yet been to visit them. I am SO grateful for their hospitality and for the friendship that Ginny and I still have after so many years. I loved seeing their lives in Manhattan and especially meeting their 7 month old beautiful baby girl.

Seeing the Brown fam, and how naturally Ginny and Sam are with their daughter, made me all the more excited to have our little girl join us. I had a great time
hanging out in Central Park,
exploring the Brooklyn Transit Museum and the Promenade,
taking a tour of the UN,
one of my favorite quotesabove is a pic of the Buddha's ashes-- yeah, THE Buddha.
Pretty cool symbol of peace to have at the UN!visiting the Met,

and trying, twice, (unsuccessfully) to win tickets via lottery for Wicked (below a nice midday view of Times Square-- I thought it was fitting to get this shot with a police car in it since there always seem to be some sort of sirens sounding on the streets of NYC).

I felt pretty proud of myself for navigating the subway by myself and I got to eat at a few restaurants/foodcarts I hadn't tried before.
I took it easy as far as NYC visits go, but my body is definitely not normal right now and after the heat and walking a lot, it took me a good day of being home with my feet up to bring down the swelling! Thanks, Browns for such a fun visit!

  1. Jealous! Looks like so much fun. Someday I really should make it there, since Kim and Zac have been there for about 5 years now! Ginny and her baby girl are beautiful!
