Back to the Grind

You may have noticed the dearth of new posts...well, I have been back at work the last several weeks and I feel like my energy has been zapped. I am constantly having to re-adjust my list of to-dos at work and home, and any social plans we make, to accomodate for my different and ever changing pregnant body. Eight weeks and counting folks, (except now it's seven weeks and counting because it took me an entire week to get around to uploading one picture to this post!) and I hope they go quickly! In all seriousness, we are constantly amazed by this miracle and really can't wait to meet our little girl.

It's definitely an interesting experience being back at work because not only am I one of maybe 10 women who work at this all boys high school, but I am the only pregnant one. I wish I could remember some of the funny comments the boys have made (remember, they are 14-15 year olds!). Someone asks me about every other day if I'm ready yet to have the baby (as a matter of fact, yes, I am ready...but the baby (and my body) have more work to do). One boy went home and told his mom I was "ready to pop" but didn't take the time to explain to her that he was referring to me being pregnant. She had no idea what he was talking about until she saw me a week later. When they find out the baby is a girl, all of them say something like, "Cool, but was your husband a little sad when you first found out?" (remember, 14-15 year old boys).

Most of them try not to stare, but they just can't help it-- everything about me looks the same except, well, the big, basketball, bump protruding out of my midsection (and another B word we won't mention, but I'm sure you can tell by the picture).
For the boys that will listen, I've started to tell them to go home and thank their moms :)
Brandon has been hard at work on his business school applications, YM stuff for church, work, and, of course, "baby class". We're enjoying the cooler weather and trying to take advantage of our last few months of going out to eat/to a movie/to visit friends before "baby girl Woodland" arrives.

  1. Oh my goodness, Maggie, you look beautiful! How funny to get those comments at work. I remember being prego with Ella and working at Burbank Parks and Rec and getting some pretty funny comments too. I'm so excited for you and Brandon. And you are SMART to really take advantage of these baby-free days! Things will be different- wonderful, but different :) Love you!
