DC Girlfriends & My Mom

Last Saturday (Sept. 25) my sweet friend, Ashlee, organized a baby shower with some of the women I was/am close with down in DC. Not only did I get to enjoy catching up with these girlfriends, but we were in one of my favorite spots in all the world: near the Jefferson and FDR Memorials along the Potomoc River. I loved visiting and finding out how everyone's jobs and kids and lives are...plus, I got some really cute and wonderful gifts. We have avoided buying any clothes up to this point and it was so much fun to get a few adorable baby outfits. Some of my friends gave us the practical gifts: things off our registry (i.e. it's obviously something you want, or think you want) or the necessities (i.e. diapers, wipes, and cream). One of my friends (shout out to Cwolfe!) painted these amazing canvases that were so personal and perfect for the baby room.

(I forgot to take a group shot until after two of my friends had left, so this pic is missing Kaylyn and Mandy B.)

(Baby Girl was moving a ton and there were a few hard lumps I just had to have someone else feel!)

AND, to top it off, my mom came into town for the weekend!

My step-sister, Steph, works for Delta and has been so nice in helping my mom figure out how to get/use the special parent buddy passes. My mom just couldn't resist coming out one more time before the baby comes...to see me pregnant (again) and help with little odds and ends. Six more weeks or less, if she's going to be on time or early, which is hopefully the case. This is one situation where I just know I am not going to be very good at being patient!
