B-day Week

I celebrated my bday the other week...and, yes, it lasted about an entire week! This was partly due to the fact that Brandon was tied up with work and other commitments on the actual day of my bday AND because I am "very pregnant" (as Brandon described me to people!) and needed some pampering.

My bday was on a Friday, and I left work a little early to go home, do my prenatal yoga video, take a nap, and then head to my hair appointment. I got a haircut and highlights (which I hadn't done since May), grabbed some takeout from a Chinese/Japanese place we recently discovered (yes, almost all Asian cuisine near us are Chinese-Japanese combos!), and headed home to talk with my family and watch some Hulu. I took a bath, ate some ice cream cake I'd made myself, and went to bed early. Of course I missed Brandon, and of course I could have made plans with friends, but being "very pregnant" and at the end of a long work week, this afternoon and evening of spoiling myself and relaxing was actually just what I needed. And, the celebration continued through the weekend as Brandon made me a lovely Sunday dinner and started in on the to-do list of pre-baby things I felt like we just had to do.

The following weekend, we had a celebratory bday Saturday:
brunch at Miss Shirley's (yummy!)
tour of the hospital so we are ubber prepared when it's finally time
a pre-natal massage at a spa in Annapolis that I would highly recommend (heavenly!)
and a Fall leaves hike/walk through one of our fav Annapolis spots (Quiet Waters State Park)So, as you can see, I was pretty pampared and got to drag my bday out over two weekends!

I also have to say that my birthday definitely took on a new meaning as I thought more about the day our daughter will be birthed...I felt like birthdays should really be a celebration of moms and all they did to bring about the day of our births. SO, thank you mom!!!
