A Tour of Our Apt.

For documentation purposes for posterity (i.e. Alyse) and to fulfill the request of a loyal and cherished reader (Rachel Pierce), I have snapped many a photo of our apartment and have posted them below. In the last post I included some pics of our neighborhood, etc. so hopefully this gives an idea of our new home and where we are spending most of our time. I think my next photo shoot will take place where Brandon is spending much of his time: Chicago Booth :) U of C is a gorgeous campus and the business school building is awesome. Anyway, on to the tour of our little abode:

As you walk in the door and turn left, off to one side is Alyse's play corner

and off to the other side is my desk

Straight ahead is the living room/family room with a nice long wall of windows that let lots of light in especially in the mornings

Around the corner from that is the kitchen (old but functional)

Dining Area off the side of the kitchen and behind the living room/family room/playroom area-- nice to have an actual dining area to put our table

Bathroom-- very small, but functional :)

The bedrooms are huge-- this is the half of our bedroom with our bed, closet, etc. Also a room that has really nice window/natural lighting

and the other half of our bedroom with Brandon's study area and our dresser

Alyse's room is great size with a corner for our gliding rocker and her books

A part of the room for her crib

and another corner for some toys, her dresser, and (of course) the diaper genie

Most of our windows have views of the trees and neat old brick buildings close by (sorry this one is so dark...the view from the Woodlands pic is from our living room)

As we've settled in here, I am liking our apartment more and more. It is nice to have so much space and I love all the windows. It helps, too, that I'm loving the neighborhood (filled with trees and parks and old buildings, most things are walkable, easy to get together with new friends, running trail close by, school and gym close by). Really, though, what has helped me feel at home here so quickly is our little family: me, Brandon, and Alyse. The fact that this apartment houses the two people who mean the most to me makes it the best place in the world...sappy, but true :) I feel overwhelmingly blessed to have an amazing husband and an adorable daughter!
