Some of my friends have family traditions when celebrating even the "little" holidays. For St. Patrick's Day I've heard of such things as green breakfasts, treasure hunts, or even making leprechaun traps as craft projects! Next year, when Alyse is old enough to understand more of what's going on, I think it will be fun to do a little something for the little holidays that then become a family tradition.
This year we celebrated St. Patty's Day by taking advantage of Brandon being on Spring break, the weather being gorgeous (in the mid 70's!), and living in a town that goes kind of crazy
(crazy ranging from the- whoa where did you get that suit)
(to the-- did you really have those boots in your closet, because I hope you didn't kind of crazy)
for this funky, Irish holiday. Chicago has a tradition of dying the river green and having a big parade and basically drinking the day away. We didn't take part in any of those activities, but we did get to walk around by the river and enjoy a yummy meal downtown. We were blown away by how green it actually was and Alyse got a kick out of looking at it too.
I love her little shoes! Ammon and I want a boy first, but I can't wait to have a girl so I can dress her up in all the cute girly things out there! How long did the river stay green after the "little" holiday?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe they really turn the river green! That's...how did you describe it... crazy!! My first thought was what about the fish- but I'm guessing a river like that doesn't really have a lot of wildlife around it :) Looks like you're staying busy and enjoying life. Congrats on the internship! What better place to spend your summer than CA? :)
