Goodfellows Visit Chicago
A few weeks ago we were able to host my mom and Scott. Alyse is definitely a "slow to warm up" baby, but she connected to Grandma Karen and Papa Scott right away...maybe because she remembered them, or because we skype fairly often, or because they are so loving and warm :) Whatever it was, we were glad she was comfortable with them right away since we just had a weekend to spend together!
The weather was a little cold, so we did a lot of hanging out inside our apartment and in the indoor playroom (tot lot).
We did go for a chilly walk/jog along the Lakeshore Trail, but it was too foggy to see downtown and the lake was pretty rough. Scott pushed Alyse in the stroller and lulled her to sleep while my mom and I ran around the point. We went out to eat and I toured my mom and Scott around part of downtown while Brandon stayed home with Alyse (she was teething and running a little fever, and it was cold and windy out).
It was a great long weekend to play, snuggle, and just enjoy being together.
"Alyse, Grandmas are very wise...let me share some wisdom with you..."
"Yes, Alyse, that is Grandma's button, but let's get back to the advice I was giving you..."
"Sometimes in life it will feel like you are putting a wiggly beaded necklace through an opening in a small water bottle, but remember: Don't ever give up!"
"Even if 20 minutes go by and you are still trying to fit the same beaded necklace into that small opening, just keep going...someday this will make sense to you, my dear, and you will be glad we had this little talk."
"I love you too, Alyse. Just remember that Grandmas are very wise."
We did make it out on the playground for a bit so we could show my folks what Alyse likes to do nowadays. The swings are a definite favorite (in fact the other day she woke up and almost immediately said, "wings, wings!") and she also loves just about anything Brandon does with her :)
I mean, who wouldn't love playing with this guy?!?!
Thanks for a great visit, Goodys, we love you!!!
