Settling In

The rest of the summer... August- Enjoyed summer in Cali and living close to family for the first time in our married life...BBsQ and sleepovers at "Grandma Debbie's", the community pool, the splashpad downtown, a playground practically in our backyard, the temperature cooling down every night and staying cool for a bit in the morning, Farmer's Market, a house with modern amenities like ceiling fans and a dishwasher...I could go on :)

September- Settled into our new life more. Made new friends, Alyse started a co-op preschool, Brandon got called to work with the youth group at church and I got asked to help with the women's organization activities, starting with a retreat in October. I signed up for a race to "force" me to up my running game a bit (I remember having to do this after having Alyse...didn't used to have to sign up for a race to increase my mileage, but nowadays I need an external motivator to spend the extra time and energy on running).

October- Played at the park a lot, LOVED preschool (Alyse loves going and learning and doing the routines like circle time and I love the time to just be with Grace, go running, clean, go shopping, whatever I want during those two hours two times a week!). Brandon loves his job...the commute can't be beat (we live 1.5 miles away!), the work is interesting and different, his co-workers are intelligent and kind, his hours are great, and it's allowing us to live in Cali for right now! Oh, and we took our first preschool field trip to a pumpkin patch. We also went to the Oakland Temple and then out to Fenton's Creamery to celebrate my birthday...it was a beautiful CA Fall day!
