One, Two, Three

Three is the magic number for this post because I have three things to blog about, and three things within those those three things...if that didn't make sense, just count to three slowly and keep reading :)

NUMBER ONE:
Our family is on a roll....

1) Last week we found out that Brandon's little bro, Sean, got the job in Philly. He was super chill about getting it and said he'd pretty much been prepared to deal with the repercussions of getting or not getting it, but I was really, really excited when he called and told me. And I felt so good that, since Brandon was at work when Sean found out, he called to share the news with me. I am so excited about this because it's a great opportunity for Sean, and we get to have him within a few hours drive of us! The whole time I've lived out here, barring one summer when my little bro was out here, I have not had family close by. So, starting in September, we will be taking trips over to Philly and bugging Sean to hang out with us! Congrats, Sean!!!

2) Then, one day after Sean got his exciting news, I also found out that I got this job I really, really, really wanted!!! For those who don't know/ didn't realize, after Brandon and I got married in December and I moved to Baltimore, I left my jobs in VA and have been searching for the right position. It's been really tricky because Maryland has very different regulations than Virginia (even though they're neighbors!!!) and I was not able to really transfer my professional license. Anyways, long story short, I went to this job fair in February, trying to expand my job search by looking outside the box at positions at private schools. Brandon helped me do some research the night before the job fair, found this position at St. Paul's Upper School for boys (www.stpaulschool.org), I talked to them at the job fair, kept in touch for a month, went in for an all day intense interview, loved the place, and...they loved me. I start officially in August, but am doing some training & prep now and am really excited to have found something so great. And, I love that Brandon found the job listing for me because it just shows what a great team we are!

3) My little bro, Lish, passed his comprehensive exams in his doctoral program in Criminology at Florida State!!! What this means is that he is now able to stop taking courses and move on to working on his dissertation full-time. What this also means is that he can technically be on the job market this Fall for positions in Fall of 2010. My brother, a professor...crazy! We're so proud of you, Lishy-poo! (Can you see that I'm having a hard time thinking of him as grown up?)

NUMBER TWO:
I promise this one is shorter. It is titled "Three Luckies".

Please refer to my sister-in-laws blog http://lishandwhitney.blogspot.com/2009/04/three-luckies.html for this exciting announcement that has to do with the first three people who comment on this blog.

NUMBER THREE:
I am turning in to a pretty good cook...this is what Brandon said to me during dinner one night. For those of you who know me, I have never been a great cook and I have never really liked cooking that much. But, since I haven't been working, and I have more time than I've had since I was a kiddo, I have been enjoying cooking more and I've been doing a pretty darn good job. Three of our favorite things to eat, some of which I make from scratch:

1) Homemade Pizza (this one even had homemade pizza sauce along with the yummy dough that I make off of the recipe on this site http://pizzatherapy.com/dough.htm).

2) Lasagna made with ground turkey (everything made from scratch except the noodles)

3) Salad with tomatoes, mushrooms, craisons, walnuts, and feta cheese. (Just remember our motto: Feta makes it betta) and sometimes chicken

  5. Congratulations to the Woodland family! That's a lot of good news. And Maggie, you are the cutest homemaker. I'll have to try that salad combination- I never knew that fetta makes it betta :) A funny food memory I have of you in college is you eating SO healthy- specifically plain yogurt with frozen berries. I thought it looked a little TOO healthy for me. Now me and the girls eat it all the time! Love you Mags!
