Gummy Vitamins, Kwanzan, and Eight More Days

Brandon laughs at me every night when I take my new gummy vitamins. I just smile, reassure myself of my status as an adult (and my right to take these vitamins) by re-reading the label (Gummy Vitamins FOR ADULTS), and tell him he's "just jealous" of these delicious and fun fruit snack-like vitamins. "Why would anyone take those horse pills when they can chew a couple of these???" I ask myself every time I bite into the delectable cherry, grape, or orange flavored gummies. I don't think I've "forgotten" to take my vitamins since I discovered these guys...

Onto a more important topic:

Our Kwanzan cherry tree that has been memorialized as our "View from the Woodlands" is experiencing its first signs of Fall! In some ways, I am really sad to see the summer be officially behind us (the temperature has not been above the mid-70's in a few weeks now), but I am very excited to watch the leaves start to change. Fall is gorgeous here, with every leaf on each tree change bit by bit, until the entire tree is aflame with Autumn colors...and, then, leaf by leaf they drop to the ground. It happens very slowly out here and always reminds me to take a deep breath of crisp, Fall air and savor the moment.
Eight more days...I will be running my marathon AND Brandon will have finished taking the GMAT!!! One of my goals, amidst the difficulty and excitement that will be part of the marathon experience, is to savor the moments and soak it all in. I've really enjoyed that part of the long runs-- once I could get in the zone-- when my thoughts faded into the background and I was present in the moment, lulled into an almost meditative stance with the rhythym of my feet hitting the pavement and my breath flowing in and out. I want to be able to take in some deep breaths while I'm running and just enjoy...I'll let you know!
What will we do with our evenings and Saturdays once we're done with training and studying? One thing we will do is sleep in more on Saturday :) Another thing we're going to do is plan some weekend/ day outings to explore. We're looking forward to the weekend in NYC we're going to have later this month to celebrate our months of being so disciplined and my birthday (21 days and counting).

  1. Good luck this week Maggie! Rest, sleep, rest, and sleep some more! And have so much fun running your marathon. The first 15- 20 miles really ARE fun. It's all adrenaline. Have someone meet you at 21 miles or so, if they can sneak in and run with you even better. Justin met me at 21 and snuck in and ran with me for a couple miles, then met me at the finish. It was awesome- just when I needed a boost. But if not, have a perfect song waiting for those last 5 miles or something. You can do it!!! I'll be thinking of you!
