A little over a week ago I started to get sick with some sort of flu. No, I didn't get the H1N1 virus, but I did get something that knocked me out pretty much the whole week...and it was no fun! Once we got home from Church last Sunday, I didn't leave the apartment (and really my bed) again until I dragged myself into work on Wednesday. Then, I left work as soon as I could, because I felt like a "walking mucous time bomb" (yes, I did refer to myself that way during my week of sickness) and I wasn't on the mend as much as I'd thought I was. I missed work again on Thursday, with a quick trip to the doc to make sure I wasn't dying, and then ventured out to work again on Friday. Upon seeing me at work on Friday, one co-worker commented about my missed days of work: "Well, that must have been a nice vacation." Hello?!?! Who likes being home, sick?!?!?! "No, actually, it was not a nice vacation. I was in a feverish, congested, lethargic daze for 5 freakin' days-- is that the sort of vacation YOU like to go on?!?!"
Anyway, as you can tell, I did not like being that sick, and although I am still congested and have a bit of a raspy voice, I finally feel more like myself. I commented to Brandon today that I feel like I have "come back to the land of the living". Unfortunately, Brandon is now experiencing some of my same symptoms. Hopefully since he doesn't work in a high school with stinky, germy teenage boys, his body will fight this sickness off so he can stay in the land of the living because he has a really busy week at work this week!
Over our Christmas vacation, we got invited by some DC friends (
Mandy and Trent), who are amazing trip planners, to join them and two other couples for a quick trip over MLK weekend. SO, even being a sicky, we journeyed a few hours over to Berkeley Springs, WV

to meet our friends for a wild and wonderful 24 hours. We stayed at this cute cabin where we played games, the boys watched football, the girls chatted it up, and Mandy and Trent made us dinner and breakfast (yes, they are amazing). On Saturday, we went to the natural hot springs and had a 30 minute bath in a private couple bath room, and ate lunch at the Earth Dog Cafe where we had our own lunch room to play pool and turn on the Christmas lighting and be silly

It was a great trip, fun to see a new place, wonderful to hang out with old friends.
Oh, I almost forgot, we also got to see a Revolutionary War demonstration! Check it out...

It was so fun to see you guys! I hope you are feeling better! We definitely need to get together again soon!
