Family: Old and New

First, the old: When we were in Utah, my mom and Scott arranged for us to have some family pictures taken. The last time we did this with all of us was probably over 10 years ago! Our family friend, Merlin (yes that is really his name!) came to the house Sunday morning (of Memorial Weekend) and we went into the backyard and smiled away.


Then, the new: This morning we had an ultrasound appt and got to see all sorts of amazing things. Our little baby is 17 weeks and 4 days old, has a healthy developing brain, heart, spine, stomach, ribs, leg and arm bones, eye sockets, lips and nose, good size head and abdomen, and all the fingers and toes. The coolest part was to see her move...yep, that's right, we're having a girl! I just can't get over the miracle of it all-- that a woman's body can create a whole other body, starting with just a single cell! It is incredible!
Disclaimer: When friends have shared their sonogram pics with me, I have shared in their excitement, but not really thought the pics were all that cool, because they are blurry, etc. But, there really is something different when it is your baby-- and having a visual image of this little one is just amazing. So, indulge us and oooh and aaah at the pic below :)
This is a profile shot of her beginning to arch her back, and her legs are straight up with her feet pushing against the top of my uterus (but, no, I can't feel it yet-- the doc said in the next 3 weeks). It is probably extra blurry because I took a picture of our picture so I could put it on our blog asap.
