I have several more weeks of our amazing summer trip to blog about-- and it really was amazing to spend that much time with family, in places we love, and just with each other (it's the most time Brandon and I have ever spent together-- going on 7 weeks I think and we still love each other!)-- but I thought I'd give you the highlights of our actual move.
Our days this past week have been filled with unpacking, cleaning, and running every sort of errand you can think of (Target, Home Depot, Costco, then back to Target, and Home Depot, etc). It is definitely more challenging to get moved in withe Alyse scooting all over and wanting to play with everything that is not a toy, but it's also made it fun too because she is so curious about our new space. There have also been multiple logistical nightmares that Brandon has valiantly led us through (e.g. our pods only being able to be dropped off in our parking lot two blocks away from our apartment, no one in the ward being available to help us move, hard flooring that is super baby unfriendly).
It's an old apartment building and it's student housing which brings with it a host of challenges-- for instance a small, small, small bathroom with old, old, old tiles and cafeteria style linoleum as the flooring in every room except the small, small, small bathroom :) BUT, it is huge, has awesome windows everywhere, great closet space/storage, and an indoor and outdoor tot lot. Not to mention it's in a great location close to a produce market, stores, CVS, and most importantly the U of C. This is a great time of year to be here-- the trees are all green and there are tons of them lining every bit of Hyde Park, and the weather has been great.
We have spent some time on and off over the last week enjoying our new surroundings and trying to get Alyse out of the apartment since it's been a baby danger zone with stuff everywhere. We've used the playground just behind our building several times (today we went in the baby pool!), have gone on several walks, and gone running on the Lake Shore trail alongside Lake Michigan.
Anyway, we will take some pics of our new place soon...for now, enjoy this one of Lisi working hard at moving in :)
Glad you got moved in! I'm wondering if Fall is a good time to visit Chicago?
ReplyDeleteI think Fall would be a great time to visit, although we haven't been through a Fall yet and, who knows, it could feel like Winter when it's October!
